The pre-Columbian Veraguas culture was based in Panama. They were known for their high-quality goldwork. Using the lost wax process, they were able to create beautifully detailed work. Deities were represented in goldwork, and appeared as anthropomorphized animals such as jaguars, birds, and monkeys.
