These earrings are adapted from the center of a pendant which long attracted attention because of its “baroque” qualities---dynamic design and curvilinear contours. Recent research has determined that these stylistic qualities find comparisons to representations of jewelry in paintings and statuary from the 2nd-early 3rd Century C.E. The earrings are made of base metal with a gold finish and cold enamel. The posts are surgical steel.
