Zygopetalum maxillare is a species of orchard that grows in the Amazon rainforest.  The original painting by the artist, explorer, and environmentalist Margaret Mee (1909–1988) is in the Dumbarton Oaks Rare Book Collection.  The scarf was produced exclusively for the exhibition, Margaret Mee: Portrait of Plants.
