Papel picado is a decorative craft made by cutting elaborate designs into sheet of tissue paper. In early Mexico, the Aztecs first chiseled spirit figures into mulberry and fig bark. Now the stationery company, two hermanos , sisters Beckri and Elizabeth Egüez, bring a modern twist to the craft by using a laser to cut tissue paper into contemporary designs. Each card is a whimsical little gift. Based in Chula Vista, CA, they develop cards that make people smile.
