Silver Wheat Bracelet

In 1992 Meral and Halil Sartekin founded Kelim, a boutique specializing in handmade goods from their native Turkey. Soon Meral and Halil began designing jewelry inspired by the beautiful patterns in the traditional Turkish carpets and the natural beauty of their adopted country, Switzerland.  Their collection now includes hundreds of timeless, organic, and geometric designs all handmade in a family-owned workshop in Istanbul, Turkey.  Matte 925 sterling silver, with a fine silver finish: the result is a “vibrant white” silver effect. 

The “wheat” motif is one of Kelim’s original and most popular designs.  It was also a favorite motif of Robert and Mildred Bliss, the founders of Dumbarton Oaks.   Wheat images, along with the saying,”Quod severis metes” (What you sow, also shall you reap), can be found inside and out at Dumbarton Oaks, including in the Pebble Garden.
