Uzbek Suzani Pillow Cover

The word Suzani comes from the Persian word Suzan which means needle.  The tradition is used with various tribal textile from Central Asia.  The pillow cover is hand embroidered silk on cotton canvas, from the studio of Madi Suzani in Tashkent’s old city.   The back of the case is cotton canvas with a hidden zipper.  

Master embroiderer Madina Kasimbaeva works to revive the unique tradition of the Tashkent school of embroidery.
